Health Services and Health Insurance
All international students will be insured by the SSI (Social Security Institution) from the day the academic year starts. The insurance will be valid until the end of the academic year. In order to activate the medical insurance, students are required to report to the Student Affairs Office once they get their residence permits. After the Student Affairs Office reports the international students’ residence ID numbers to the SSI, students are required to make the payments monthly at the SSI locations. The university pays the fees for health insurance with no charge to those students who have a full scholarship from the university.

The Student Affairs Office does not report students with valid health insurance from these countries to the SSI. If you have valid health insurance in your home country, you are eligible to transfer the insurance to Turkey and get medical help from SSI with no extra cost. In order to do so, you are reqıired to have the SSI in your country send a copy of the form which indicates you are insured, to the SSI in Turkey and a copy to the Student Affair Office at the university.
Students will get an SSI number upon the registration at the health authority.
Medical insurance helps students who need medicine by paying 20% of the subtotal prescribed by the doctor.
There are many state and private hospitals in Turkey. The cost that you are going to pay depends on the pricing policy of each hospital. Some of the hospitals wok under complete agreements with SSI insurance and some of them require extra costs which are not covered by the SSI insurance.
